there is not a single moment where i didn't feel absolutely disgusted with what i was seeing. They shoot and bomb villages that did absolutely nothing, they make racist jokes, they are cynical.

It is actually shocking how out of touch americans are and while i know this is a movie and it is only a representation of what happened, i also know americans are very stupid, racist and xenophobic. I've never liked movies about war seen from the point of view of americans, so starting this i was already expecting it to be three long, terrible hours. it was a lie, the more i saw of them the more i hated them. we'd cut them in half with a machine gun and give them a bandaid.

Wow, very meta, bro.It was the way we had over here of living with ourselves. He’s directing the soldiers to move along and not look into the camera, while actually directing the movie itself. Goofy cameo for the director: It wasn’t needed, and you can argue it was goofy and self-indulgent, but I do appreciate the moment of director Francis Ford Coppola giving himself a cameo in the movie as a news/documentary director. None of this is digital artwork, and it wasn’t even models or miniatures either - it was all done for real, and that deserves a lot of respect. I can see why the shooting time and the budget swelled well beyond initial plans. The gunfights, the explosions, the gore - everything holds up and looks just as good as any digital creation today.
